| From the early months of 2008, almost 19 regions and provinces of China suffered from a heavy snow disaster lasting more than 20 days.
According to the preliminary evaluation ended Feb. 16th, the stricken forest field covered an area of 20.87 million hectares or 7.4% of the national forest land. Total damage was estimated at almost 3 billion trunk of Phyllostachys pubescens (locally called bamboo MAO), which is 47% of the national bamboo Mao yield.
Although such snow disaster is very uncommon in Chinese history, its impact is disastrous to the bamboo industry and a great loss to Dasso Flooring. Supply of bamboo raw material will definitely be affected in the coming years, which will naturally and directly lead to upward price changes of bamboo products.
